As the world finds creative ways to stay connected while doing their part to combat COVID-19, veteran race car driver, Bertrand Godin will use his talent to fight the virus in a unique way. Starting April 10, Godin will be behind the wheel of #77 car, sporting the colours of Groupe À l’infini.
Like most other sporting events, motorsports have gone virtual. Autodrome Granby, RPM Speedway and the DRIVR Simulation team have partnered to offer a series of virtual races on iRacing. Starting Friday, April 10 at 7:30 p.m., races will be broadcast live through Facebook. As any conventional race, drivers will have practices, qualifying times and a final race. What is Bertrand Godin’s role in the fight against COVID-19? He has partnered with the non-profit organisation GuardRX, by pledging a personal donation of $25 at each of the virtual races he will participate in during the season.
Bertrand Godin said: “I am thrill about the idea of having a virtual racing season in car # 77/Groupe À l’infini. We hope that we will be able to entertain motorsports fans during this much-needed containment period. Each and every one of us must put our shoulder to the wheel to find solutions to this humanitarian and planetary crisis. I therefore call on everyone to limit their movements and stay at home as much as possible to win this battle against the pandemic. “
In addition, we invite companies to join the team, for the COVID-19 vaccine race, by making a donation that will give them the opportunity to see their logo on the car # 77/Groupe À l’infini during this virtual race of the season.
